Adventure Yoga and Connection Retreat

Explore Panama with Maureen and Anayra from April 6th to 13th this will be a truly amazing experience!

Our retreat to Panama will offer those seeking a break from the demands of everyday life a chance to rejuvenate mind, body, and spirit. Our retreat promises to be a truly enriching experience.

The natural beauty of the archipelago in Bocas del Toro, combined with the practice of yoga, and the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals creates the perfect setting for personal growth and renewal.

Your journey will begin in Panama City where we will have rooftop cocktails and enjoy the Panamanian Night Life for one night before embarking on our journey to Isla Colon where we will spend our days practicing twice daily yoga and swimming in the Caribbean Sea.  Give yourself the gift of adventure travel, yoga, and connection.  Join us in Panama!

Our retreat is not just about the destination, it’s about the inner and outward journey and connections you will make.
— Anayra & Maureen

Connection

The Mantra for this retreat is CONNECTION.  During our time together we will work on making connections with ourselves and with others.  There will be daily journaling prompts which you will be encouraged to explore and share with other attendees.  These journal prompts will be tied into the theme of connection which we will discuss during the yoga sessions.

The Inner and Outward Journey

The Inward and Outward Journey

For our inward journey Maureen and Anayra will lead the group through two daily practices of yoga of varying disciplines. During these practices the theme of connection and other related themes which come up in discussion will be emphasized.

For our outward journey we will work on exploring our connection to nature and to each other.  We will enjoy snorkeling to see the sea life in the archipelago and if the weather and visibility permits we will experience the bioluminous sea life as well.  We will also explore the other wild life on the island and spend an afternoon stand up paddle boarding or floating in the water.

A beach and jungle retreat is an unforgettable experience - with sights and sounds unlike any other!

In between our morning and evening yoga sessions you will have plenty of time to utilize to either go inward or outward.  You can lie around in a hammock, or lay out by the sea, or you can hang out with our group while making more connections.  The schedule is designed to give you time to choose what you will participate in throughout the day.  While your package includes twice daily yoga and other tours, you are welcome to participate as much or as little as you like.  This is your time, and you will be the director of your experience while Maureen and Anayra will be there to help guide and encourage you. The unplanned downtime is created for you to “let go” and you can choose introspective alone time, relaxation by the pool or the sea, or cocktails/mocktails by the bar while making connections with like-minded individuals.

Our retreat adventure includes:

A city tour of Panama City

A snorkeling adventure through the Isla Colon archipelago

A bioluminous tour (weather and visibility permitting)

  • 1. What about my passport/visa?

You will need a valid passport with at least six months of validity at time of entry. Passport must have at least one blank page for entry visa.

TOURIST VISA Not required for stays under 180 days.

Visas are not necessary for US citizens or Saudi Citizens

    2. When should I arrive in Panama?

The excursion begins on April 6th in Panama City airport code PTY, therefore your flight should arrive on the morning or the afternoon of the 6th. Please make sure that if your flight says +1 that you adjust the date to leave on the 5th so that you arrive on the 6th. (This sometimes happens if you have long layovers or leave late in the night). Our retreat location will be Bocas del Toro so on the 7th you will have to fly to Isla Colon. You can purchase this flight on your own, or you can pay a $300 supplement so that we can book it for you.

    3. What airport should I fly into?

You should fly into and out from? Panama City airport code PTY for arrival on the 6th.

Departure on the 7th from Albrook Airport, airport code PAC, to Bocas Del Toro airport code BOC, return flight to Albrook Airport on the 13th. Please allow a minimum of 4 hours between your flight from Bocas del Toro to Albrook Airport and your International Flight back to your home country. Albrook Airport is a 35-45 minute ride from Tocumen International Airport. You may want to consider spending an additional night in Panama City if you don’t want to stress about the airport times and travel.

    4. When should I schedule my flight back home?

The retreat officially ends on Saturday April 13th in Bocas del Toro. You will have to fly back from Isla Colon to Albrook Airport and on to Tocumen International Airport in Panama City

    5. Is it ok for me to travel on my own?

Of course! We will have an amazing group of people with Maureen and Anayra acting as Excursion Leaders. You do not have to travel with a partner as there will also be people traveling on their own. If you choose to travel on your own you will need to take a single room option.

    6. How does money work?

Cash is King. Most places prefer or only accept cash. We recommend changing money before arriving, or taking a large sum out from the atm at the airport. Most places and people will happily accept USD. Make sure that you bring small bills as people may not have change for you if you pay with large bills. We do not recommend taking money out of ATMs except at the airport; sometimes the ATMs are not properly functioning, sometimes your bank at home may flag your card for fraud and freeze it, and oftentimes the fees from the ATM machines are high and you end up paying the ATM fee, plus your bank fee, plus a money exchange fee.

    7. How much extra money should I bring?

Breakfast are covered with your package fee; all of your ticket entrances and transportation needs are covered. However, tipping is not covered so we encourage you to bring money to tip your drivers, tour guides, and porters at the hotel. Lunch and evening meals and beverages are not included, thus you will need/want cash for payment.

If you like to shop for souvenirs you will want to bring money for that as well.

    8. How about vaccinations or health concerns?

The following vaccines or boosters are recommended, but not mandatory for travel by the CDC: Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Diphtheria, and tetanus. You should also have your Covid Vaccines/booster.

We also recommend purchasing travel insurance that also covers Covid19 and other health issues in addition to trip cancellations, etc. We recommend insuremytrip.com which gives a selection of different policies and their prices based on your needs.

    What is the food like?

Lunch and dinner will be on you. If you are ordering from the on-site restaurant your meal will be a-la-carte, there are plenty of choices of salads, rice/pastas, chicken beef, lamb, and fish. However, we must stress that this trip may not be suitable for those with celiac, or vegans. While vegetarian friendly food is available, however, when specifying dairy free, gluten free, etc., they may not be very knowledgeable and we cannot guarantee that your dietary needs will be met if you follow a restrictive diet.

    9. Are soft drinks/alcohol included in my package? No soft drinks or alcohol are not included but are available for purchase at the bar.

    10. Do I need a power converter or adapter?

Be prepared! For Panama there are two associated plug types, types A and B. Plug type A is the plug which has two flat parallel pins like the US and plug type B is the plug which has two flat parallel pins and a grounding pin. Panama operates on a 120V supply voltage and 60Hz.

    11. What should I bring?

Bring your yoga mat, comfortable clothes, for movement and exercise and sightseeing. For walking, we recommend sneakers or hiking shoes. Hat(s)/Scarves to protect your head. Sunscreen and bug repellant, chargers, battery packs, toiletries, camera. We are also in a jungle environment by the beach, consider this and maybe pack some long sleeves or long pants if you tend to get bitten by bugs.

Travel Documents – Make sure to have copies of all important travel documents, including your passport, visa (where applicable), travel insurance, etc.

Light Sweater/Jacket/Wrap – This will help protect against bug bites and also provide backup when the evening air gets chilly.

Health and Hygiene – Pack a basic medical kit filled with items that may not be readily available in the jungle. Kits should include things like: bandages, antibacterial hand gel, pain relievers, anti-diarrhea drugs, antacids, and re-hydration salts.

    12. When Should I Put Down My deposit?

Only the first five people to register qualify for the early bird pricing to secure your package, we recommend making your deposit as soon as possible. Once the early bird is full the option will be taken off and you will pay regular price. Those that have been on retreat with Maureen in the past will qualify for a $100 discount on this trip. The early bird pricing is first come first served and only the first 5 people to register by putting down a deposit or paying in full will qualify.

Final payment will be due on February 20th, 45 days prior to the trip start date.
